For State Assembly
Family and Career Background
Andy Jorgensen was born in Omro, Wisconsin, the son of dairy farmers. He left the family farm to attend the Brown Institute in Minnesota, to train for a career in radio broadcasting. His career led him to WFAW, in Fort Atkinson. While at the station, “Andy Arbuckle,” as he was known to his listeners, met and married his wife, Toni. Together, they now have two sons, Jens and Myles, and a daughter, Camryn.

In 1995, Andy left the radio station for a job working on the assembly line at General Motors’ Janesville plant. He served as a shop steward for UAW Local 95. It was in that position he developed a sincere interest in politics, eventually leading him to run for the Wisconsin State Assembly.
Taking Action to Serve You
Andy Jorgensen ran for office to make a change in Madison. In January of 2007, he hit the ground running, working with Republicans and Democrats alike to enact meaningful ethics reform with the creation of the Government Accountability Board in the first two months of session.
Andy understands how difficult it can be to balance a household budget, so he’s introduced legislation to make our tax system fair for working families. He’s crossed party lines, to say “no” to unnecessary spending at the state level, too.
Andy has fought for economic opportunities for small business owners and communities, and for continued educational opportunities for all, both in elementary and secondary schools and in institutions of higher learning.
Andy has partnered with Republicans and Democrats to find solutions to the health care challenges we face today. He championed the continuation of SeniorCare, holding a petition drive to lobby Washington and make voices in his district heard. He also championed the expansion of BadgerCare Plus, so kids in Wisconsin – even in low-income families - will get a healthy start in life.
Accessibility is Key
Andy Jorgensen understands that, to be an effective lawmaker, he has to listen first.
That's why he has worked hard to be accessible to his neighbors and friends, holding several listening sessions each month. So far, he’s held more than 60 of these sessions, with at least one in every village, town, and city in his district!

Andy always makes sure people hear back, when they contact him. In his first term, he’s sent thousands of letters to folks in the 37th Assembly District and returned countless phone calls. He thanks you for your feedback, and asks you to keep it coming!
Community Involvement
Andy Jorgensen is a proud member of the Wisconsin Farmers Union and the Farm Bureau, regularly attending organizational meetings. He also serves on the board of the Respite Care Association of Wisconsin.
Andy understands the value of educational opportunities, so he volunteers for the Jefferson County Literacy Council.
He is also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson, having served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Andy enjoys spending time with Cub Scout Troop 137. He has previously served as den leader for the group.
